.САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН domains: Hi Neli, can you first tell us, how you ended up in the world of domains? Give advice to those who are just in the beginning – how tо get into the swing of domains faster?

Neli Marcheva: Like most of the things in life, by accident. I was working for another IT company, but I wanted to try something new. So, looking for new opportunities I came to an interview in CORE. I remember, it was a rainy day but it didn’t stopped me. And now I am happy that I was so eager to find a new path..next step in my life.

As for those who want to know more I can say just to be stubborn and don’t let something small to stop you.
Also for these, who speak Russian and Bulgarian language, as far as I know, CORE’s marketing team prepares special educational site for Internet and domains that will be launched in September this year.
.САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН domains: What is your role in CORE? What include your responsibilities?

Neli Marcheva: My position with CORE is Registry Operation Manager. My responsibilities are mostly technical, I help with the registry operations of some of our new gTLDs (like .сайт, .онлайн, .scot, .gal, .eus, .mango) and communicate with customers when they need support for some technical issues.
.САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН domains: As a technical person maybe you know from inside about the Cyrillic IDNs issues. In your opinion, what prevents them most and what can we do something before?

Neli Marcheva: An issue now is that currently IDN domains do not support email, but many projects are expected to produce first results later this year. We can add in this group also the universal acceptance – IDNs are not fully recognizable in web browsers and other applications.

We all can contribute to the development of the cause “Internet in our own language”. From a marketing perspective it is all about communication: to make people aware how domains should function when entered into web browsers, how domains should function during the domain registration process, how domain should be entered into server configuration and so on.

From a technical perspective I personally can assure you that we (who are responsible for the technical development of the IDNs online) are working a lot in order to convince companies like Google to understand us and to make the needed changes. We have a lot of meetings, calls and e-mails speaking about integration of the IDN in the e-mails. And these are only part of the points that we want to cover.

.САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН domains: Let’s move on to something more enjoyable … In the end of your work day, what is your favorite pastime to relax? What do you like doing in your spare time?

Neli Marcheva: My passions are dances and photography, so if I have spare time after work I try to do something close to that, like going to ballet, opera or just walking to a nice place making beautiful photos.
.САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН domains: Along several technical conferences you had the opportunity to visit different continents. How would you compare the exotic Bali and Singapore with Moscow or with classic Pisa and London?

Neli Marcheva: I am glad that I can work and in the same time travel, because I can expand my horizons and meanwhile do some work. Meeting so different people is wonderful. Our work proves that the whole world is without borders as the Internet itself.

I like more exotic places. But all these places can’t be compared, each has its own beauty, you just have to see and feel it.
.САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН domains: What would you wish to yourself, CORE and the Cyrillic Domains .САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН?

Neli Marcheva: I wish to myself just to be healthy.
To CORE and the Cyrillic Domains .САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН I wish a lot of success, many registered domains and to be the first spark that will trigger the IDN development!
